First and foremost, both of these movies are great, cultural, iconic films. However, ‘The Temptations’ take the cake. Of course, I will provide my reasoning, which will also include some bias. So, for lack of attention span, let’s get into it.

Point 1: ‘The Temptations’ movie (biopic) was true to life events. They really had to face the adversity depicted in the film, like racism, fatherhood challenges, marriage challenges, drug and alcohol addiction.

Point 2: The music was real and can be found being played by people to this day. The catalog is endless. Yes, ‘The Five Heartbeats’ had some heat with the whole “... a heart is a house for love…” but it can’t go up against the onslaught of the hits ‘The Temptations’ have.

Point 3: The scenes were way more memorable. Paul singing at the piano. David Ruffin suggested the name change of the group on the couch. David Ruffin outside of the studio seeing he was kicked out of the group. Blue goes to the kitchen and never comes back to the table with the ribs. Need I say more?! Smokey Robinson at the funeral!

Now, I'll give you my bias and why they’ll always have the greater film. Their songs help me express my feelings. “My girl” taught me how to express the infatuation and love for a woman. Men aren’t supposed to cry, based on the standards of American Society, but “I Wish It Would Rain” let it be known that men have feelings. “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” helped me understand that I have an obligation and responsibility to be the best version of myself, as a man and provider, or I would damage my lineage.

You don’t have to side with me and my points, but now you can look a little deeper into it. All I’m saying is ‘The Temptations’ movie is the epitome of #TherapeuticRealness. Mic Drop!!!
