Why The Five Heartbeats Take the Cake
Great Music
Even though the music is from different groups and singers in real life, the assortment of songs in the movie is great. A heart is a house of love, We haven’t finished yet, and Nights like this, are just a few of the hits from the show.
2. All Star Cast
Robert Townsend, Leon Thomas, Michael Wright as Eddie King Jr. Need I say more. Great acting and production, all time classic. Many greats and well respected actors and actresses starred in this movie. It also was written and directed by legends Robert Townsend and Keenan Ivory Wayans, need I say more.
3. Hilarious Drama
If you haven’t seen the movie you should see it. The movie is a musical drama film but brings in the laughs also. If you want to be sad and cry about alcoholics and drug addicts crashing out, watch the temptations. If you want to laugh at drug addicts and alcoholics crashing out and redeeming themselves and their lives, watch the 5 heartbeats. It’s a serious film that has laughs, heartbreaks, addiction, scamming and redemption all in one.
4. Countless quotable lines
You’ll find yourself quoting lines from the movie for years to come. A sign of a great movie is did you leave with something that sticks to you and Eddie King Jr and the crew will definitely leave a mark on you and be stuck in your mind for a substantial period.
Don’t get me wrong, I love The Temptations. The film and group. One of my favorite groups of all time if not the greatest. I just love The 5 Heartbeats movie more. I believe that the movie has lots of depth and keeps you entertained and stuck to the screen all the way through. Most importantly, something that everyone loves, which is a happy ending. Who doesn’t like a happy ending?1
